The Performance
Today was the assessment and we performed our bullying assembly to a year 11 Learning Skills class. We had a quick run through of the performance before and then started...
Things I thought went well...
- The opening of the piece, I thought the opening was really good as it straight away shown the audience what the performance was going to be about.
- The scene were all very effect, especially the physical scene, as we got good feedback from the audience as they said it was really effective and they thought what the girls were doing was awful and this is what we intended.
- I thought the transitions also went extremely well, as because they were repetitive it clearly shown that this was a new scene.
Thing to improve...
- We did not add the other diary entries between each scene, we only used the first one, I thought that this could have been more effective and help the audience to understand what was happening if the others were included.
- The ending of the performance could have been more horrible, and have more of a climax rather than being so calm.
Overall I thought the performance went extremely well and everything ran smoothly.
7th Lesson
Today we decided to come in through lunch to rehearse and polish what we had done so far, and make sure that all scenes and transistions were done. First we came to a conclusion for the victims at the start of the performance to only read one line of their monologues, and say altogether 'Dear Diary' before hand. We had a run through of the performance from start to end, and added little bits into each scene to polish them, such as we added April, Autumn and Alys to scene one to make it look more 'bitchy'. Then we found out that we were performing to Penny's year 11 drama class, and as we did not have a polished ending we had to make one up very quickly, the end was the bullies all saying 'I'm Sorry' with the victims standing behind us, however when we performed we got lots of positive feedback, and Sarah, Penny and the audience all thought our ending was actually very effective, so in the end we decided to keep this ending as it was.
6th Lesson
In this lesson we all came together, and carried on. We went straight into rehearsing the performance from start to finish.
We decided what to do for the beginning, and blocked it, we discussed and came to a conclusion that we were going to have the victims stand next to each other in a line and say a part of their dairy entries over one another. We then worked on the physical scene, which includes Alys, April, Autumn and Beckie. As Beckie was not here I played her part, so we could decide and rehearse what to do in the scene, we decided to make this scene extremely aggressive! And end up with Alys, April and Autumn pulling Beckie's hair out, shaving her eye brows off, plucking her eye lashes out and slapping her.
After School
In the after school we worked on our transitions, and as a group decided that we would split up into two categories which are the bullies and the victims, we all came to a conclusion that we would use the idea of us all being at school and walking through the corridor (in between lessons), and each of us would stay in our characters from our scenes, and keep bullying the victims whilst walking through the corridor.
5th Lesson
We carried on creating and developing our scene, Sarah and I choreographed and finished the dance, and developed our performance by adding stronge language such as 'GO DIE!' As this would really emotionally effect the audience.
We then performed our scenes to the rest of the class and got feedback.
4th Lesson
Started to create our scene (exclusion)
We started by brainstorming ideas we could do to show exclusion, and came to an conclusion that Sarah and I could to a dance to show our friendship as we are the bullies, then Abbie would come in the dance half way through and try to start to talk to us, but we completely ignore her, and she then mimes a bit of the song, which is Everytime by Britney Spears, then after she will read out her monologue.
3rd Lesson
We first discussed the work that we did in the previous lesson, and decided that the bullies letters should be changed as they all killed themselves at the end of their letters, when we thought this was a bit unrealistic, so we decided that all the endings should be different.
We also decided the structure of the performance:
Victim diary entry
Verbal abuse - Katie, Abbie F, Jame and Joe
Cyber Bullying - Lauren, Grace and Leanne
Paranoia - Hayley, Leah, Taz and Chloe
Physical - April, Alys, Autumn and Becky
Exclusion - Rachel (me), Sarah and Abbie E
Suicide
